Hilo was originally part of Guide Dogs for the Blind’s program in San Rafael, CA. Though he was not selected to become a guide dog, Hilo is one of several career-change dogs making a huge difference in his community. Because of Hilo’s intelligence, good nature, and high energy levels he was selected by WD4C to be the new face of the invasive mussel detection program in Alberta, Canada. Hilo tirelessly searches watercraft, explores the docks, interacts with the public, and enjoys lots of attention and cuddles. He is an outstanding representative of WD4C and is the perfect spokesmodel for his unique and important line of work.
