Tobias

  • BREED: Labrador Retriever
  • SCENTS: 4, including quagga

Tobias was found wandering Helena, Montana, as a stray. He was adopted by a student in Carroll College’s Anthrozoology program, who immediately started his training. Tobias's high energy was a challenge, but he displayed a laser-like focus when searching for toys. It wasn’t long before he was out in the field locating samples in difficult environments. When we caught wind of Tobias' skill, we ran him through some advanced detection dog tests, and soon he and his handler were roadtripping to Texas for training on Zebra and Quagga mussels. Tobias is now deployed at watercraft check stations in and around Glacier National Park. He brings a total commitment to each search and is rewarded with his Wubba toy, and if he’s very lucky, a chance to swim in the cold mountain water.
