  • SCENTS: 8, including ammunition

A colleague of ours first saw Vicka in a shelter in Elko, Nevada. She’d been found as a stray, wandering along the side of the road, but our friend could tell there was something special about her. We gambled on Vicka, adopting her sight unseen – and won big. She is serious and methodical in the field, with an unbelievable drive to work and an unrivalled detection distance. While many working dogs are so focused on their jobs that they don’t have much interest in people, Vicka loves to snuggle and play with the kids in North Luangwa, Zambia, where she works searching for rhino horn, pangolin scales, and other poaching products. She is a rock star at road blocks, helping the scouts recover handguns and illegally-harvested teak.
